Established in 1997, The Oasis Sanctuary is a unique avian rescue and life-care facility, dedicated to providing permanent care, shelter and rehabilitation for companion parrots for which other rehoming options do not exist. In particular we are a refuge for exotic birds such as parrots, cockatoos, macaws and other Psittacine birds \u2013 although we do accept Passerines (finches and canaries), Columbiformes (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwbirds.co.za\/dir\/breeding-pigeons-doves\/\">doves<\/a> and \u201cfancy\u201d or racing pigeons) and other captive avian species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the birds in our care have \u201cspecial needs\u201d, little or no social skills or have suffered physical and\/or emotional abuse resulting in undesirable psychological behaviors. The Oasis is often all that stands between life and death for these beautiful, sentient and endangered companion birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are welcome to nominate any non-profit bird organization to also appear in the Standard edition.
