Jalapeño for birds
Jalapeño is good for birds. It is 5–10 cm long and hangs down with a round, firm, smooth flesh of 25–38 mm wide.
Parrots do not care about the heat because they don’t have the receptors to register spice. They also eat the seeds. You should know what will happen to you if you kiss your parrot that has just eaten jalapeño 🙂 It would be a good idea to wear gloves when you cut them into the chop.
Nutritional value of Jalapeño for birds:
Tony Silva on peppers: “‘Only hot peppers. They have capsaicin, the sweet pepper does not. Capsaicin is anti-bacterial.”
Jalapeño contains two nutrients, lutein, and zeaxanthin for eye protection.
Vitamin B6 and small amounts of calcium, iron, and magnesium. Contain small amounts of vitamins A and K and folate.
May lower cholesterol as well as provide antioxidant properties to the system. Can also stimulate circulation and relieves high blood pressure, coldness and arthritis.
Dried or fresh chili peppers are another source of Vitamin A and can be used if you cannot find jalapeños.
Feeding jalapeños for birds:
Add jalapeños to chop. Give stem with some of the pepper still on it. You can also feed them whole or dried.

Our birds love peppers! Cayenne is their favorite. I used to grow jalapenos and cayennes. I need to start again.
