Parrot mutations: Amazons

The lutino Orange-winged Amazona amazonica and Blue-fronted Amazon Amazona aestiva are quite similar but the former lacks red from the shoulders. Both of these mutations are becoming established in aviculture.

Howard calls these chHoward Voren is writing a book on Amazon Parrots and will be giving a lot of details on mutation amazons, including this beauty which he bred. He calls this mutation chocolate raspberry.

Yellow-sided mutation of the Green-cheeked Conure. One of the babies from this year (2012). With each generation and selective breeding, their colors become more intense.

Cinnamon-turquoise Green-cheeked Conure. I had two solid white individuals produced by this pair but Murphy’s Law reared its ugly head and the 4 year old daughter of a worker opened the cage so she could watch the birdies fly free. (2012) There is always next year.
